Easter SEALs

After careful political positioning, throwing a gourmet pizza party and deciding on a dog for the White House, the seemingly unconcerned ‘Bama got around to making an actual decision. I doff my cap to the acting president for finally giving a go-ahead that allowed the U.S. Navy to so capably do its job.

Thanks to three incredibly talented marksmen, heroic Captain Richard Phillips of the Maersk-Alabama is alive to celebrate some very special Easter Sundays in the future. Navy SEALs, who parachuted onto the scene earlier, executed three perfect head shots [one of the most difficult] under nearly impossible conditions, killing the Somali pirates and freeing Captain Phillips.

These videos are worth more than the proverbial thousand words:

Congratulations to the Alabama crew for reacting to the piracy attempt like real Americans, Captain Phillips for shouldering his heavy responsibility in the finest tradition of the sea and to our Navy for making it possible for all of us to walk just a little taller today.

By Any Other Name

Have We Forgotten? The late comedian George Carlin had a routine during which he listed several politically correct terms for a handicapped person, ranging from physically challenged to otherwise enabled. Brandishing his usual profound wit he concluded, “You can change the name of the problem to anything you want but the guy is still crippled!”

At GITMO, we have a murdering band of thugs captured on the field of battle during The Global War On Terror, that our make-believe government in Washington has now decided to rename detainees. Well, change the name to anything you want but they are still unlawful enemy combatants, most of whom have brutally killed American sons and daughters — all of whom would do it again in a heartbeat. By the way, as you probably know, we’re not supposed to say War On Terror anymore either!

A few months ago these same sand vermin weren’t entitled to so much as protection under the Geneva Conventions. In every war fought during the past 5,000 years, except for the odd prisoner exchange, captured enemy combatants were either killed or held until the end of hostilities. It seems, however, that the chip Obama carries on his shoulder for America is partially fed by a soft spot in his head for Muslims. In addition to closing their Caribbean country club, he wants to bring these barbarians to the U.S. and give them all the rights to trial of a citizen. Besides being despicable and dangerous, awarding such rights to the enemy is unprecedented in the annals of history, military or otherwise!

Beyond Orwellian doublespeak, this is a policy that demonstrates weakness to our enemies, disrespect to our troops and destroys the morale of our brave forces in harm’s way. I’d love to hear what Mr. Carlin would have done with this one!

Obama’s War

Fastball or Hanging CurveObama is like a relief pitcher in the bottom of the ninth, with a one run lead and the home team at bat. He can save the game or lose it but he can’t win it. To quote one predecessor, ol’ Number 37, “Let me make one thing perfectly clear”. Unless he makes a mistake and blows the lead, Iraq has been won and he can’t pin anything but credit on President George W. Bush.

Afghanistan is a different story. ‘Bama is being suckered into his own Vietnam as he readies to commit another 17,000 ground troops to a pointless, unwinnable war. No outside power has ever been victorious there in more than 5,000 years of history, including the former Soviet Union during its prime.

The barren, mountainous terrain ranks among the most forbidding in the world and only those who know its intricacies can prevail. There is no strategic military value in Afghanistan, only the political pursuit of a 9/11 vendetta against Osama Bin Laden, whose single greatest role now lies in being an effective decoy. We’ve been successful at hitting high value terrorist targets near the Pakistan-Afghan border from the air but as the Taliban withdraw deeper toward the interior of the country, following them with additional ground troops becomes increasingly suicidal.

Our bravest of the brave will be needed elsewhere in the coming months as we address more threatening situations in The War On Terror. If “H” believes he can simply talk his way around the growing Iranian threat, he is dangerously mistaken. If our own Congress can ‘roll’ him so easily, as they did with the giant Porculus bill, he’ll be putty in the hands of Middle-Eastern thugs who already see him as a weak leader. Mohammed is their ‘Messiah’, not Obama!

Existing military personnel are already spread thinly across the globe and I, for one, am not ready to see the draft reinstated. With 35 active terrorist training camps operating right here in America, perhaps we should be addressing internal security first — before we go rock climbing in an impossible place halfway around the world. I like being safe at home.

Number 44 has taken the mound and he is nervously looking for the right grip on the horsehide. Does he have a fastball that can nibble at the corners or will he dangle a hanging curve over the center of the plate? We have yet to discover whether or not he has any real stuff. Geez — I hope it’s hidden in there somewhere!

It Happened One Tuesday

No one will ever forget where they were seven years ago when they heard about the 9/11 attacks. Unfortunately, most people will only remember once a year and, unless they are from New York or New Jersey, they probably never actually “got it” in the first place.

For most, 9/11 was just something that happened to those people over in New York; Oh, ya…Washington was hit and a plane crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania, too. Still others preach that we actually deserved it! Can you imagine the colossal ignorance behind such a mindset? This was the most horrific attack against America in our history, the first ever on mainland America, and except for a few hours each year its significance has mostly been buried in bickering, politics and controversy, along with the remains of nearly three thousand innocents who died that day.

In truth they didn’t just die, they were mercilessly slaughtered through an evil act of cowardice. It was cowardice because dying is so easy; it happens to all of us sooner or later. It’s living that takes true courage. I would like to see an official national day of respect designated to honor, not just the dead, but the survivors who continue to celebrate life in spite of their grave losses. If past presidents, common workers and civil rights leaders can qualify, surely we can spare one more day for thousands of dedicated souls who routinely went to work that morning and the families who expected them to come home that night.

For now, 9/11 will be marked with a moment of silence and the reading of a roster of victims. Then, except for those families left with a gap even greater than the gap in the New York skyline, life will go on pretty much as usual.

Somehow, whenever I round the viaduct that leads from New Jersey toward the Lincoln Tunnel, I still expect to see those two buildings towering majestically over The City. I will always feel a gut-wrenching emptiness when all that suddenly greets me is a huge hole in the sky. Then my emptiness turns to rage as I remember the thugs who committed this senseless act of barbarism. Maybe if more Americans “got it”…if more Americans could feel that same mix of loss tinged with anger, we would be more resolved as a people to winning The Global War On Terror and, indeed, never forget.

Koran Kate

Marine Caskets At DoverA friend forwarded the following e-mail to me, purportedly from a New Jersey housewife. You can feel the flames belch from her nostrils and smell acrid smoke billowing from her ears. With good reason, too…she’s mad! Personally, I think she has caught the sentiment of most Americans, except for the far Left kooks and Liberal bleeding hearts who wallow in some kind of stupid guilt about living in the greatest, most prosperous country on the face of the Earth.

It’s one of those documents that is ‘making the rounds’ and heaven only knows who actually penned it; whoever it was didn’t exactly capture Thomas Jefferson’s style. It is, however, to the point and worth a read. Just in case it hasn’t made it to your in-box yet, I’ll shortcut the e-mail system by sharing it with you here. Naturally, the letter is unsigned so we’ll just call our budding Internet scribe “Koran Kate”.

Are we fighting a war on terror or aren’t we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001?

Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan, across the Potomac from our nation’s capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania ?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn’t they?

And I’m supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was ‘desecrated’ when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet?…Well, I don’t. I don’t care at all.

I’ll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I’ll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia

I’ll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for chopping off Nick Berg’s head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I’ll care when the cowardly so-called ‘insurgents’ in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.

I’ll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide.

I’ll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution’s Bill of Rights.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don’t care.

When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college-hazing incident, rest assured: I don’t care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don’t care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed ’special’ food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being ‘mishandled,’ you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don’t care.

And oh, by the way, I’ve noticed that sometimes it’s spelled ‘Koran’ and other times ‘Quran.’ Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and-you guessed it-I don’t care!!

If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends. Sooner or later, it’ll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous behavior!

If you don’t agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you choose the latter, then please don’t complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great Country! And may I add:

‘Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don’t have that problem’ — Ronald Reagan

I have another quote that I would like to add AND…….I hope you forward all this.

‘If we ever forget that we’re One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under’ Also by.. Ronald Reagan

One last thought for the day:

In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the Anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England ’s Prime Minister Tony Blair’s words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said: ‘A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in.. And how many want out.’

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

1. Jesus Christ

2. The American G. I.

One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

You might want to pass this on, as many seem to forget them both. Amen! “

You know what? We can howl about gas prices, cry about health care and whine about the silly-but-expensive Global Warming Hoax…but if we don’t prevail in the Global War On Terror, none of it will matter. Amen!

Friends Of Alkeida

Thank you Supreme Court Justices John Paul Stevens, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, David Souter, Stephen Breyer and Anthony Kennedy for making the job of these young heroes even tougher and for setting the stage to cost even more of their lives than would otherwise be necessary.

You have demonstrated your incompetence by voting to confer the rights of American Citizens upon foreign enemies captured on the field of battle for the first time in the history of warfare. We salute your support of Muslim extremists and terrorist butchers everywhere.

You are unfit to clean the boots of these brave souls and it is time for you to admit your shameful behavior by stepping down from the bench.

Surf’s Up!

Waterboarding ProcedureBamboo shoots driven behind fingernails, boiling egg-drop colonics, forced shoeless marches through freezing snow or jungle heat, violent beheadings, listening to some Liberal drone on about how “we’re better than that”…THAT’S torture. Sticking underwear on some barbarian’s head, providing him better living conditions than he had back at the cave [including cable] or abruptly introducing him to one of the many uses for plastic wrap is not torture. See the difference? As for dignity, these sand-grown thugs gave that up, along with any chance for self-respect, the day they departed the Human Race and signed on to murder innocent people.

Close Gitmo? We need about three more! One of our bleeding-heart, hack politicians is even concerned about holding someDaniel Pearl Pic of these non-uniformed enemy combatants too long. Excuse me, but every war known to man has either finally killed their captives or, at the least, held them until the war was over. They didn’t return them to active duty for a second crack at killing our brave sons and daughters. Notice I didn’t refer to terrorist types as “prisoners of war”. They’re not. They’re, also, not covered by any treaties or other scraps of paper signed in Geneva or anywhere else. If they want that privilege, they’ll have to buy uniforms, organize an actual army and join a country…otherwise they’re entitled to no more than we choose to give them.

Unfortunately, we have too many terrorist sympathizers on the left and a few shell-shocked politicians like John McCain on the Right who want to give too much. McCain has never sufficiently recovered from his own P.O.W. experience to be able to determine much about reality in this area. He simply relates too well and empathizes too much. Don’t let anyone, Right, Left or indifferent tell you that aggressive questioning doesn’t work. It does. It’s documented and has yielded enough credible information to foil several terrorist plots against The United States; no one is going to condemn us for inflicting a “boo-boo” on some sand jockey if it saves lives.

As for what the world will think of us if we were to begin employing torture techniques, what do they think of Japan? Of Korea? Germany? Because they’ve all done far worse than even the atrocities I listed at the beginning of this post. Guess what? We didn’t start this thing but we’re going to finish it like Americans not become victims of political third-world pressure, yet again!

Now, you’ve got the Democrats acting surprised about the technique of waterboarding, as if this is the first they’ve heard of it. Besides trying to make more political hay with it, the problem is that these self-righteous hypocrites keep talking about rights and humanity [with reference to people who offer neither] when they really need to start thinking “information”. If it’s going to help keep us safe, I say, “Surf’s up!”

Out Of Step

Two columns of uniformed soldiers marched smartly down the middle of the road to the tune of fife and drum. Their colors fluttered proudly on the afternoon breeze, announcing their might and majesty to all the world. The only thing that surpassed their bearing was their bewilderment as, one by one, their ranks were diminished by the ‘pop-pop-pop’ of gun fire echoing from all sides. The unseen marksmen moved like ghosts among the trees, creating gaping holes in the confused columns of red-coated figures. Even while attempting to return fire, the uniforms remained in lock-step and displayed perfect decorum to the very end.

This is the description of a skirmish between British Redcoats and Colonials during our Revolutionary War. It could, just as easily, be a parallel for the current encounter between American forces and the rag-tag enemy in The Middle East. Battles like Iraq become protracted because we’re using 21st Century tactics against a 17th Century enemy. We’re guilty of being Redcoats in the road while colonials pick us off from behind trees. In spite of all contraindications, we keep trying to apply humanitarian rules to a situation where the only rule is “anything goes”. If we are to prevail in the Global War On Terror, we must think and respond like the terrorist. Something less, is seen as weakness and seized as opportunity.

I keep hearing statements from the Left about harsh treatment of enemy prisoners like, “We’re better than that”. A Democrat friend of mine adds, “We need to stand for something. If we act the same way they do, then what do we stand for?” My answer: “Winning!” It’s time we learned to get just as down and dirty as the other guy because this is a street fight. You can’t show up with gloves on if they’re using bare knuckles. Had we been “better” than the enemy during World War II, we’d all be speaking German on the East Coast and Japanese on the West.

Many of our limp-wristed politicians want to outlaw all forms of ‘non-gentlemanly’ persuasion to extract information from unlawful enemy combatants; persuasion which has proven to yield positive results. You can’t fight a politically correct war. These are not detainees. They’re not soldiers. They’re terrorists! They either brutally murdered or were about to brutally murder our sons, daughters, brothers and sisters who are fighting to keep us safe; they would murder us in our beds if given half the chance. Turn them loose and they’ll murder again! We need to understand the enemy but we don’t need to coddle him.

Barack Hussein wants to use diplomacy and reason with the madmen dispatching these barbarians. Hillary, Mrs. Clinton will go along with whatever the polls show. Someone please tell me exactly what you say to a guy who looks you square in the eye and says, “I want you dead because your very existence offends me.” What is left to discuss, especially if [even as the most powerful country on earth] you’ve taken all other options off the table. Thugs like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad must be made to understand ‘grave consequences’ and their threats taken seriously, including threats of retaliation should we act preemptively in our own defense.

I fear that we are being sufficiently distracted by Liberal opposition in this country, and threat of impending Iranian nuclear capability, to overlook other devastating forms of attack which are already available to those who want us dead. I’m talking about chemical and biological agents which can be easily smuggled into our country and dispersed. With the coming of the Christmas shopping season, and a potential terrorist threat to unsuspecting crowds that will fill the malls, I am given to wonder if the nuclear distraction is intentional. The introduction of such agents could have staggering effects in both human and economic terms.

The time may be at hand to act swiftly and with decisive force, placing delusions of humanity on hold. We can no longer afford the time or luxury of marching down the middle of the road. Japan awakened a “sleeping giant” with Pearl Harbor. The time may have come for the giant to awaken once again and for the Islamic Nazis to pay a similar price.
