Balls And Strikes

John McCain hits home runs. Barack Obama forgets his bat; sometimes, he forgets to step up to the plate. John McCain makes decisions. Barack Obama talks the talk. Obama’s credentials as a rookie parade in full view with each passing word and he can’t seem to shed the mental clothing of a bush league ‘Community Agitator’. Sometimes, maƱana just isn’t soon enough!

With the current Freddie-Fanny crisis threatening our nation’s economy, it’s McCain who is taking action and heading for Washington in an attempt to forge a bipartisan solution. Obama, with feet of clay, simply wants to issue a joint statement and says, “If you need me, call me.” In fact, he still wants to debate on Friday no matter what happens because, “The American people deserve to know where each candidate stands”. By now, wouldn’t you figure everyone is familiar with all of Barack’s positions? It shouldn’t require a formal debate after nineteen months of campaigning. Besides, (p-s-s-s-t) Friday’s debate is scheduled to address foreign policy.

The spin has already begun as Obama and his media corps try to grab credit and make McCain some kind of ‘fall guy’ in the whole affair but, regardless of rhetoric, give Big Mac his due for keeping his eye on the ball. As for Barry-O, applause for hiring a couple of out-of-work millionaires like Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson as financial advisers after they helped steer us into this mess in the first place.

Personally, I wish nobody would try to fix the problem, especially to the tune of $700+ billion. Since we have the government trying to repair something the government broke to begin with, I’d feel a lot better if they’d just get their hands off the controls and out of my pocket, let Fanny and Freddie strike out and call the game on account of rain. We can start anew with a clean scorecard tomorrow.

R.S.F.

P.S. I just finished watching President Bush’s address to the nation and Obama is going to Washington whether he likes it or not.
