At last I’m beginning to feel like I’m voting for someone instead of against the other guy. With his selection of Sarah Palin, John McCain has further demonstrated the kind of wisdom and good judgment that helped him prevail during five torturous years at The Hanoi Hilton. We finally have a true Conservative on the ticket; she’s the “real deal” in every way.
If I had to choose one word to describe my new-found impression of McCain, that word would be “steady”. He’s like a slugger who stands at the plate waiting for exactly the right pitch, while the pitcher throws everything he has until his arm turns to stone.
I don’t agree with John about thirty percent of the time. I can live with that because it beats the one hundred percent difference I have with Obama, whose pitch selection is rapidly approaching the hanging curve ball for which Republicans have been waiting. America can’t afford not to send Barack to the showers. Agreement seventy percent of the time, plus Palin on the bench, is enough for me to believe that this team presents the strongest opportunity for winning the brouhaha we face with terrorists, taxes and economic turmoil.
While the odds are pretty long, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Joe Biden suddenly resigns for “personal reasons” to make room for a stronger candidate to compete with Palin. Has Hillary been too badly abused to still accept a possible offer? She may be the Democrats’ best chance. Oops…maybe they should have realized that before she was tossed so unceremoniously out of the game.
