A Word From The Wise

Do these words sound familiar?

“You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away men’s initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.”

You’re right. They oppose the viewpoint of all three presidential candidates and every policy of the modern Democrat Party. They weren’t spoken by Bill Buckley, Ronald Reagan or Rush Limbaugh but they did echo from the mouth of someone who, by current Liberal standards, would be considered a Right Wing Extremist. He was the genuine article: Abraham Lincoln.

Isn’t it funny how the more things change, the more they stay the same?
