Barack Hussein Obama is resurrecting the hatred, fear and division that most intelligent people believed was dead two or three decades ago. The “typical White person” that I know is oblivious to skin color and certainly no one was considering race when they placed Obama on a path to the United States Presidency. But apparently, while most “typical White people” have moved past prejudice and bigotry, many “typical Black people” have not.
I’m not even sure exactly what he means. What is the “typical” stereotype rattling around in his head? I have four granddaughters who are racially mixed and I never thought of them as either Black or White. They probably never thought in those terms either…at least I hope not. They’re simply four pretty little girls who go to school, enjoy life and have a wide circle of friends; all kinds of friends. I have a daughter-in-law who is Chinese. She’s damn beautiful and, I guess if you twist my arm to notice, I’d have to say she does look a bit different from me. She sports a full head of long hair, doesn’t wear a beard and is somewhat ‘bumpier’ than I where God built in those qualities!
Since “The Great Uniter” seems to need some kind of label, Obama has chosen to ignore his half-Caucasian heritage and opt into some sort of “typical Black person” category. I don’t know what that is either. I do know it’s unfortunate [and dangerous] that he has also chosen to maintain close ties with a retrograde anti-White, anti-Semite, anti-American like the not-so-Reverend Wright as well as a mob of additional bigoted hate mongers like Sharpton, Meeks and crazy Louie Farrakhan. What is more, Mrs. Obama seems to share these distasteful views and their children are being exposed to volumes of venom as well. These kinds of 1968 attitudes have no place in the world of 2008 and certainly not in the future of our great nation.
We cannot allow someone with the personal agenda of a Barack Obama to gain a position of greater power than he already enjoys and from which he should be ousted at the electorate’s earliest opportunity. His claim was that he’d bring the country together, not create racial division where political strife already exists. The price is too high; America can’t afford it.
He further revealed the true Barack with remarks hurling his loving grandmother under the bus and, apparently, he would do anything else necessary to win power. It’s actually very “Clintonesque” isn’t it? But I guess every cloud has a silver lining. His one benefit from all this seems to be the convenient diversion it provides for him. As long as these controversies stay alive he can continue to wax eloquently while saying nothing of substance, rather than having to field direct questions on the real issues fueling this year’s election; an area in which he seems to have major problems.
How about we get back to important specifics like The War On Terror, illegal immigration, health care costs, energy independence and the economy. These are immediate and critical issues, demanding someone who is everyone’s President. I repeat, everyone’s President! There will always be a couple of nutjobs who won’t ever get it right when it comes to race. We can’t afford to have one of them as the leader of our nation and the free world.
By the way…I’m pink not white, my granddaughters are sort of mocha not black, my daughter-in-law has these terrific almond-shaped eyes [I haven't noticed her skin, except it's softness] and my heart is heavy as I realize that we may not have outdistanced racial nonsense by as much as I thought. My personal thanks to Michelle and Barack Obama for pointing that out. Thanks, too, for reminding us of feelings that today’s kids have never had to experience and most reasonable adults of all races had already discarded.
