My dad wasn’t a corporate magnate, doctor or lawyer. He wasn’t a Black, Latino or Native American either. The son of [legal] immigrants with barely a high school education he didn’t have a career, just a job. He was an average, hard working White guy who did the kind of work others didn’t want to do. Sound familiar? It should. The concept is nothing new except to a handful of Washington politicians who see open borders as new votes and never did an honest day’s work in their lives. Dad came home every night, tired, smelling of sweat and machine oil from performing a thankless piece of labor, then got up the next day and did it all again so the rest of us could have a better life than his.
There was no $350,000 a year salary as with Michelle Obama. He probably didn’t earn much more than that in his entire lifetime but he loved America and was proud to be a productive part of its fiber. He always loved this country, not just when it was expedient and the demeaning characterizations of a Michelle Obama would never have occurred to him. In a recent assessment of 2008 life in America, she followed up her ‘lack of pride in America‘ and ‘unite against the White oppressor‘ remarks with:
“Life is not good: we’re a divided country, we’re a country that is “just downright mean,” we are “guided by fear,” we’re a nation of cynics, sloths, and complacents. “We have become a nation of struggling folks who are barely making it every day,” she said. “Folks are just jammed up, and it’s gotten worse over my lifetime!”
Is this ingratitude and lack of respect the sort of change her husband has been talking about? Is this the attitude we want in the White House? Dad never ran for any office, performed on the public stage, affected national policy or shaped world opinion. He was sometimes bitter about life but never about America.
If Barack wonders why he wound up with the ‘fuzzy end of the lollypop’ in three of the last five primaries, maybe he should look to his left [or right] when he goes to bed tonight. If I were he, I wouldn’t let his bigoted anti-American bride anywhere near a microphone or reporter for the rest of the campaign!
Dad died twenty years ago but his labor union still sends their magazine and I still accept it to see what kind of pap they’re dishing out these days. The poor dolts they’re trying to brainwash seem to be lapping it up like stray cats with a saucer of poisoned milk!
As always, they echo the party line straight out of the Democrat play book and glorify the Socialist agenda espoused by both Clinton and Obama. Combined with Mrs. Obama’s cockeyed vision of gloom and doom, it makes you wonder exactly where this country is headed. Is there anyone left who can still think for himself? I guess we’ll know in November. If the Lemming sees its shadow, we can expect at least four years of disasterous Democrat decline.
Fortunately for me, Dad never bought any of it. He had substantially more wisdom than his lot in life would indicate. He’s the one who taught me about Conservatism. He was my Bill Buckley. He taught me to be proud and thankful for the opportunities my country provided. By his example, I learned to see the greatness in America and not dwell on the dark side in the manner of a ‘Princess Obama’. Sorry my dark princess, life is good! In our house, we voted against those who would threaten our country and used the pages of that union tabloid to cover the bottom of the bird cage. We still do.
