Stealing Liberty

There was a car commercial not long ago that stated, “This is not your father’s Buick.” Much the same can be said about the modern day Democrat Party. “It’s not your father’s party.” The historically great Democratic leaders such as F.D.R., Harry Truman and J.F.K. belonged to a grand party which loved and served America. Unfortunately, if they were alive today, they’d probably be Republicans; not Conservatives, to be sure, but Republicans.

Today we have Marxist Socialists masquerading as Democrats, who attempt to undermine America and steal our liberty with every excuse they can fabricate. It’s a political party which has been hijacked by the far Left and has given birth to purely self-interested bureaucrats like the Clintons, Gore, Kerry, Murtha, Pelosi, Boxer, Reid, Ted Kennedy and the list goes on. They lie, smear, cheat, steal and sweep aside, by any available means, those who would impede their progress toward achieving the power they so wantonly crave. They’ll stop at nothing, including destruction of The United States Constitution, that guiding beacon of light created by those who established this great nation.

They’ve been taking pot-shots at the First Amendment for years, most recently with the so-called “Fairness Doctrine”. Although Democrats have had some limited censorship success, for the moment at least, our First Amendment rights remain reasonably intact. Now they’ve taken aim at the Second Amendment which specifically states:

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

The language seems pretty clear to me. We are THE PEOPLE but the Libs are, once more, mongering fear about the average citizen having the right to own a gun. It has come to the point where the Supreme Court will examine Second Amendment language, yet again, and hand down a ruling by July. This could become another hot election issue. The Justices will wield the questionable power of their black robes and decide whether more of our freedom shall be eroded, leaving only sanctioned government agencies to bear arms…or if will “we the people” continue to have that same right, as intended by framers of The Constitution. It is another instance of unelected officials attempting to manipulate our lives. To judge constitutionality is one matter; the making of law is quite another. That is the province of elected public officials.

I hasten to point out a few facts. First of all, the people are the Militia. Citizen soldiers made up the Continental Army and still comprise law enforcement agencies as well as our military. All of us have always been obliged to protect our freedom either by force of arms or the ballot box, the only difference being the matter of a formal uniform. With the dawning of a new kind of warfare, it is not impossible that it may befall citizens to confront terrorism as individuals; we have the right as Americans to take up more than broomsticks to accomplish that task.

Crime seems to be the song of the Left; same old lyrics, same old tune. They seem to ignore that most crime is not committed by people who waited six months for a legal gun permit. Those with intentions to commit harmful acts will always find the necessary implements somewhere, as will perpetrators of crimes of passion. The simple fact is that more crime is prevented by ordinary armed citizens than there are crimes committed with such weapons.

The core issue was raised, this time, by Dick Heller, a resident of The District of Columbia [hint: not a state] where the possession of a hand gun is not permitted. The underlying problem is prying the lid off an age old can of worms with a new opener. Should the Second Amendment not be fully upheld, a dangerous precedent may be set for more liberal interpretation of other amendments in the future. If he really needs a gun that badly, I respectfully suggest that Mr. Heller pack up and move, instead of gambling with the rights of his fellow citizens throughout the rest of America.

Keeping Thanks In Thanksgiving

While watching the Democrat fight last week, a debate broke out…almost. I wanted to see if any of the Not Ready For Prime Time Players could appear presidential. They couldn’t. Barack, looking contemporary, was not nearly as prepared as he should have been and a couple of times I thought Billery was going to burst into tears. It was puzzling to watch their continued pummeling of the President; they seemed totally focused on him. Let’s keep it that way. Don’t anyone tell them that Bush is not on the ballot this time!

The problem I’m having with all the candidates is that I don’t see anyone, in either the red or the blue corner, that I’m completely comfortable with leading our country at this critical point in history. I look at the Republicans and see a long line of vice presidents. I look at the Democrats and don’t see anyone I’d trust to even sweep my sidewalk, although none of them look like they can handle a broom anyway. Despite her phony enthusiasm and lack of direct answers to most direct questions, I actually found myself agreeing with Billery about one thing…2008 may be the most important election in our history. This time, there are some stark differences that reach beyond Republican and Democrat. This election isn’t merely about Right or Left, it’s about right or wrong. It’s also about whether or not we’ll recognize this country in another four years.

With Thanksgiving upon us, we have more to be thankful for than ever. The economy is humming, we so far remain safe and enjoy the greatest standard of living in the world. The Liberals want to change that. They want to seize power, minimize our rights and make us wholly dependent upon government. They’ve been fooling around with first amendment rights for years; now they’re after the second amendment. Piece by piece the Left is trying to dismantle the bulwark of liberty and freedom created by our founding fathers.

Instead of celebrating the legacy of abundance and opportunity offered by this great nation, the schools in Seattle Washington are observing Thanksgiving as a dark day of mourning, playing upon the ‘injustices’ Pilgrims perpetrated upon the Indians. Native Americans? [I haven’t seen any westerns about cowboys and Native Americans lately, have you?] No…Indians. Liberal educators are taking the lead from hack politicians and brainwashing our youth to believe in their gloom and doom scenarios instead of teaching documented, historical fact. There’s even a movement in the wind to do away with Thanksgiving, altogether, for the same misguided reasons. This year there’s P.C. and pumpkin pie on the table for Democrat dessert…plus the specter of socialism in America to make their perverse vision a reality.

Just to set the record straight, the Pilgrims set sail on The Mayflower September 6, 1620. During the arduous journey to the New World, their leader, William Bradford, set up a contract establishing fair and equal laws for everyone, irrespective of their religious beliefs. When the Pilgrims landed in New England in November, they found a cold, barren, desolate wilderness and during the first winter half of them, including Bradford’s own wife, died of starvation, sickness or exposure.

When spring finally came, the Indians taught the settlers how to plant corn, how to fish, and skin animals for their coats. Life improved somewhat for the Pilgrims but their situation remained difficult. The original contract the Pilgrims had entered into called for everything they produced to go into a common store, and each member of the community was entitled to one common share. All they produced, even the houses they built, belonged to the community. They were, actually, employing a socialist system! Life was not improving. Bradford, who had become the governor of the colony, recognized that this form of organization was as detrimental to the Pilgrims as that first harsh winter had been. The most talented and able bodied were not motivated to work any harder than their neighbors, thus, there was little progress.

Bradford formulated a bold plan to attempt to remedy the situation. He assigned a plot of land for each family to work and manage, giving them the right to sell or trade what they produced. With the forces of competition and free enterprise as personal incentives, the colony began to flourish. The Pilgrims found they had more food than they could eat themselves, so they set up trading posts and exchanged goods with the Indians. With the profits they were able to pay off their debts back in England and their success attracted more Europeans in what eventually became known as the Great Puritan Migration. In other words, capitalism saved the Pilgrims, not the Indians!

Being people of strong religious background and conviction, the Pilgrims decided to thank God for all their good fortune. And that was originally Thanksgiving…neither praising nor oppressing the Indians but giving thanks for their prosperity [and, indirectly, for the capitalist system that saved their hides]. I’m willing to bet none of our kids will ever hear the whole story in school, especially in Seattle. Long before the existence of Karl Marx, the Pilgrims experimented with socialism, as have many societies since, with the common, predictable result of sluggishness or failure. Fortunately, they were smart enough to scrap the system.

This is what Billary, Barack Hussein, the lovely Jon Edwards and their cohorts are soft-peddling for America. Will the majority among us be wise enough to realize that the Democrat agenda is nothing but a journey into decline? Will we wake up in time to reject their false promises and remain the greatest country God has put upon this earth?

I watch what passes for debates, listen to the petty bickering and wonder, not which candidate has the most experience, but which cares more about our country than about his or her own self-interest. This Thanksgiving, let us give thanks for our liberty, freedom and prosperity…and celebrate the abundance with which we’ve been blessed. Let us pray that it may always be ours to enjoy.

Clinton Chaos

I keep hearing people criticize the ethics of Hillary Marx Clinton. Personally, I don’t have a problem with her ethics…she has none. Every time I sit down to write, I make up my mind that this time I’m going to discuss the merits of some real Americans like Rudy, Fred or Mitt and keep the mood upbeat. But, as surely as the sun rises in the morning, either Barack utters another irresponsible foreign policy pearl or Hillary does something that nearly defies description.

While reports of her demise are a bit premature, she has been ‘John Deaning’ all over the place for weeks. Beginning with the last Democrat audition (a.k.a. debate) when she fumbled a question about illegal immigrant drivers licenses, she has managed to place on display every fatal character flaw she and the big dummy hoped the electorate would either forget or wouldn’t notice. If you go to her web site or read the eMails her disciples send out, it becomes clear they are living in a bubble [The Land of Oz is just ’round the corner Dorothy!]…a bubble that appears about to burst.

Her sometime husband even abandoned one of his ‘bimbos du jour’ and crawled out of bed to attempt a defense of Hillary’s bumbling incapacity. His latest claim is that the boys are ‘Swift Boating‘ the helpless girl. First, may I point out that, in spite of Al Sharpton’s comments to the contrary, Barack is Black and probably doesn’t appreciate Slick Willie’s choice of words. I know I don’t, and I’m not Black. Second is the fact that Hillary is ‘Swift Boating’ herself. Even ignoring the plethora of Clinton scandals from the White House years, she can’t break old habits from her Black Panther days or cover up her small-time Arkansas ways.

Being marketed as one of the smartest women in the country, and practically a mother-of-the-year candidate, is a particular affront to my wife and every caring, thinking woman in America. At best, she is average; at worst, dangerously calculating. But smart? No. Wait a minute, if this is true, how has she done so well in politics? Easy. Hillary hitched her trailer to a semi-charming, philandering pig farmer and trashed every tenant of the women’s movement [of which she is supposed to be a champion] all in exchange for power. Don’t think she let a thing or two slide? For openers, just ask Paula, Kathleen, Monica, Susan and Jennifer. Besides, even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while.

The fact that her position changes on issues, more often than she changes her pantyhose, is finally becoming undeniably obvious to the public. Evidence her near plummet in the polls. As if her violent temper, money laundering ‘in Chinatown’, blatant hypocrisy and planting press conference questions with college kids weren’t enough, the Clinton Crime Family is now threatening the media. They’ve warned Wolf Blitzer [of CNN], who is moderating this Thursday’s Democrat Debate, to “take it easy” on her and not to “focus” on Hillary. What happens if Wolf does his job like Tim Russert did last time? Are they going to send Big Vinny to rearrange Wolf’s kneecaps or will they go after his wife and kids?

Until now, Hillary Mrs. Clinton has kept to carefully scripted performances where, with the complicity of the media and her attack machine, she has been able to control the questions. The openness of a campaign setting is a different animal and when confronted with legitimate questions, which she should be prepared to answer or discuss, Hillary crumbles. She either ignores the question, tries to change the rules, spews streams of gibberish or cries “foul, don’t hit the girl.” What I like best is that it’s not even Conservatives exposing her for what she really is. It’s Barack Hussein and the lovely Jon Edwards who smell blood in the water!

The overriding question demanding a straight answer is, “What else are the Clintons hiding?” How damaging are the carefully guarded documents locked away in The Clinton Library? If the American people are to seriously consider Hillary Marx Clinton for the highest office in the land, we have a right to know.

Out Of Step

Two columns of uniformed soldiers marched smartly down the middle of the road to the tune of fife and drum. Their colors fluttered proudly on the afternoon breeze, announcing their might and majesty to all the world. The only thing that surpassed their bearing was their bewilderment as, one by one, their ranks were diminished by the ‘pop-pop-pop’ of gun fire echoing from all sides. The unseen marksmen moved like ghosts among the trees, creating gaping holes in the confused columns of red-coated figures. Even while attempting to return fire, the uniforms remained in lock-step and displayed perfect decorum to the very end.

This is the description of a skirmish between British Redcoats and Colonials during our Revolutionary War. It could, just as easily, be a parallel for the current encounter between American forces and the rag-tag enemy in The Middle East. Battles like Iraq become protracted because we’re using 21st Century tactics against a 17th Century enemy. We’re guilty of being Redcoats in the road while colonials pick us off from behind trees. In spite of all contraindications, we keep trying to apply humanitarian rules to a situation where the only rule is “anything goes”. If we are to prevail in the Global War On Terror, we must think and respond like the terrorist. Something less, is seen as weakness and seized as opportunity.

I keep hearing statements from the Left about harsh treatment of enemy prisoners like, “We’re better than that”. A Democrat friend of mine adds, “We need to stand for something. If we act the same way they do, then what do we stand for?” My answer: “Winning!” It’s time we learned to get just as down and dirty as the other guy because this is a street fight. You can’t show up with gloves on if they’re using bare knuckles. Had we been “better” than the enemy during World War II, we’d all be speaking German on the East Coast and Japanese on the West.

Many of our limp-wristed politicians want to outlaw all forms of ‘non-gentlemanly’ persuasion to extract information from unlawful enemy combatants; persuasion which has proven to yield positive results. You can’t fight a politically correct war. These are not detainees. They’re not soldiers. They’re terrorists! They either brutally murdered or were about to brutally murder our sons, daughters, brothers and sisters who are fighting to keep us safe; they would murder us in our beds if given half the chance. Turn them loose and they’ll murder again! We need to understand the enemy but we don’t need to coddle him.

Barack Hussein wants to use diplomacy and reason with the madmen dispatching these barbarians. Hillary, Mrs. Clinton will go along with whatever the polls show. Someone please tell me exactly what you say to a guy who looks you square in the eye and says, “I want you dead because your very existence offends me.” What is left to discuss, especially if [even as the most powerful country on earth] you’ve taken all other options off the table. Thugs like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad must be made to understand ‘grave consequences’ and their threats taken seriously, including threats of retaliation should we act preemptively in our own defense.

I fear that we are being sufficiently distracted by Liberal opposition in this country, and threat of impending Iranian nuclear capability, to overlook other devastating forms of attack which are already available to those who want us dead. I’m talking about chemical and biological agents which can be easily smuggled into our country and dispersed. With the coming of the Christmas shopping season, and a potential terrorist threat to unsuspecting crowds that will fill the malls, I am given to wonder if the nuclear distraction is intentional. The introduction of such agents could have staggering effects in both human and economic terms.

The time may be at hand to act swiftly and with decisive force, placing delusions of humanity on hold. We can no longer afford the time or luxury of marching down the middle of the road. Japan awakened a “sleeping giant” with Pearl Harbor. The time may have come for the giant to awaken once again and for the Islamic Nazis to pay a similar price.

Un-American Politics?

In case you haven’t noticed, we have a guy running for President of the United States named Barack Hussein Obama. That’s Barack HUSSEIN. He spent his youth as a Muslim, attended Muslim schools for the first eight years of his life and was raised by a devoutly Muslim father. Now he refuses to wear an American flag lapel pin or place his hand over his heart during our National Anthem. In fact, it has been reported he also refuses to recite the pledge of allegiance.

President? Gee, what a great Commander-In-Chief he’d make, not to mention the example he sets for our children! I know he wants us to believe he’s a different kind of candidate but I’m not so sure that behavior unbecoming an American is the best way to show it. His actions are even more glaring in light of Hillary being ready to wave the flag at anything pretesting favorably with a focus group.

Now, I’ve probably seen the [original] Manchurian Candidate one too many times…maybe just enough to give me pause when I think of a couple of other Hussein’s that weren’t huge fans of The Star Spangled Banner either. I’ve seen some less likely scenarios play out in my time. Given his unpatriotic behavior, one at least has to question just where Obama’s real loyalties lie. Did I mention it is radical Muslims that want to wipe us off he face of the earth and the rest, who haven’t contradicted that statement, in fact haven’t said anything at all? The silence is deafening!

Barack Hussein has little qualifying experience or political accomplishment. His misguided attempts to articulate foreign policy have already angered Middle Eastern allies and he’s only a candidate. He demonstrates a complete lack of understanding as to the degree of danger we’re facing in the world, wants to talk with genocidal madmen, bomb our allies and has strong Socialist leanings domestically. Of course, Hillary Marx Clinton and the lovely Jon Edwards have those same domestic tendencies so perhaps that part is just being a Democrat. Yet, despite his numerous shortcomings, he remains the media’s darling.

I must revisit the cynicism of previous posts and continue to wonder if he may be part of a quiet, bloodless jihad. At first I thought I was being a bit paranoid but, in recent months, I’ve heard the same concern voiced by a number of other people. I know his adult years have been outwardly spent as a Christian but in wondering about Barack Hussein’s earlier, more formative years I researched the question, “Can a good Muslim be a good American?” Here are some points I discovered:

Theologically - His allegiance is to Allah, the moon god of Arabia.

Religiously - No other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)

Scripturally - His allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran).

Geographically - His allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns in prayer five times a day.

Socially - His allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.

Politically - He must submit to the mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and Destruction of America, the great Satan.

Domestically - He is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34).

Intellectually - He cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.

Philosophically - Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is dictatorial, autocratic or struggling.

Spiritually - When we declare “One nation under God,” the Christian’s God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Quran’s 99 excellent names.

Given these beliefs and the “moderate” Muslim silence, perhaps we should be cautious about all Muslims in this country. It would seem there are serious conflicts between the demands of their religion and truly becoming an American. Draw your own conclusion but, depending upon Hillary, Mrs. Clinton’s continued inability to answer direct questions, November 2008 could well find Democrats having to ask themselves which Islamic weapon is mightier, the bomb or the ballot box.

Politics Of Despair

Joan of Arc did less whining at the stake. Whether crying “depression” in the midst of a robust economy, spewing defeat into the face of progress in Iraq or fanning the flames of the recent west coast inferno, today’s Democrat hack puts General George Patton to shame. When asked about the position of the U.S. between Germany and Russia during World War II, he declared, “We should attack in both directions and wipe out all those sonofabitches while we still can”. The liberal Left in this country has gone Patton one better. They are attacking in all directions at once, not just two. They will lie, cheat and even subvert the American way of life to achieve the power they so wantonly crave.

Their technique is simple and well-proven. As Hitler’s propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbles said, “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” It was true then, it is true now. Evidence a few close friends I had over last weekend. As sometimes happens, our discussion turned political. One of the scary things I’ve come to realize is that most of my friends are Liberal Democrats; the scarier thing that became evident during their visit was the extent to which these otherwise intelligent people have bought into the list of Left Wing talking points. They’ve swallowed the media’s agenda hook, line and sinker, without even realizing it! Everything was wrong…and better someplace else. To hear them tell it, you’d think we were living in Poland circa 1939 instead of the greatest, most prosperous country on earth!

Last week, the only thing moving with greater destructive force than the California wildfires was the Democrats’ ability to politicize tragedy. Their ability to feed politics into the jaws of disaster, while completely ignoring human suffering, is downright heartless. They did it with Katrina, used the same callous tactic to undermine the success of our troops and now, faster than you can say Santa Ana Winds, they created a ‘three-fer”. The liberal elite not only got to engage in some Bush bashing but they rose to new heights in tearing down Iraq and energizing the global warming hoax, using only this single event. As an added bonus, they kept the kooks that issue their marching orders from MoveOn.org happy too. What a value! And speaking of values they clearly have none or any sense of human compassion, either. Before the flames were extinguished or the victims’ tears even dry, the likes of Barbara Boxer [who said there were too few National Guard troops on hand because of Iraq deployment…NOT], Harry Reid [who played the global warming card] and California Lt. Governor John Garamendi [who took foolish delight in taking leave of his senses] demonstrated the results of their collective lobotomies. Welcome to the idiots’ convention John. No wonder Congress sports only an 11% approval rating.

Now Hillary, Mrs. Clinton is crying foul. After months of ducking meaningful questions and wanting to be just one of the guys, she tripped over a lip Tuesday night at the Democrat audition (a.k.a. debate). A few people took note of her clumsiness and provoked supporters to the new battle cry of, “Hey, don’t hit the girl!” From everything I’ve researched about her caustic manner, it seems “the girl” can dish it out but can’t take it. Suddenly she’s not tough anymore; she’s a victim. Gee, that’s a quality I’ve always looked for in a president! I’m sure Ahmadinejad and a few other swarthy, Middle Eastern types bent on our annihilation will find it endearing, too.

With Halloween just behind and the election barely 12 months ahead, the time has come to publicly unmask those who present a danger to America at this pivotal point in our history. Both Republicans and Democrats need to start dealing with real issues and Conservatives must return to their roots. None of our candidates represent a completely Conservative philosophy but on defining issues like The War On Terror, health care, immigration and tax reform, Fred, Rudy and Mitt at least project an understanding of the problem. They even offer a solution or two.

I’m still waiting for the first idea from the Democrats that doesn’t endanger the country or further erode our precious liberty. There is too much at stake to waste time and energy on self-indulgence or childish whining. I would like to see candidates of all political stripe, finally, begin acting like they deserve to sit in the most powerful chair in the world…instead of on the curb.
