It’s healthy to look back…as long as you don’t stare. Let’s glance at what 2007 has wrought and where we may be headed in 2008. First of all, if you think last year was chaotic, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. The coming year will be a pivotal one in our nation’s history and the political stew the Democrats have been cooking up will reach full boil.
The old year saw Al Gore, the radical Left and the lynch mob media perpetrate the greatest hoax in modern history upon the world and even reap rewards from it. Since they couldn’t defend their man-made global warming scheme, it has now become global climate change, which is [and always has been] a natural condition. Unfortunately, the assault upon our liberty in the name of “being green” will continue as a political religion for some time into the future. It will affect everything from fuel oil and oxygen to truly critical commodities like lightbulbs and toilet paper.
It has been a year of fading front-runners [like Hillary and Rudy], petty dictators [like Ahmadinejad and Chavez] and ignorant people [like Reid and Pelosi]. During 2007, the Democrat Crime Machine hit a new high in lows by initiating the rollback of the most robust economy in our nation’s history and attempting to undermine our troops at war as well as America at home. Instead of conducting the business of state, Congress fabricated endless investigations ruining the reputations of several good people in high places, initiated a series of meaningless votes [more than 40 failed attempts to retreat or cut war funding] and invented pork barrel projects, the likes and costs of which would have made even old-school tax and spend Democrats blush. They invented crises after crisis and relaunched assaults upon both the first and second amendments of our Constitution in their power-hungry lust to steal as much of our liberty as their carpetbags can hold. These socialist predators salivate at the thought of gaining control over our future. The groundwork for the demise of the free market economy is being laid as we speak and will reach epic proportions during the ‘08 Democrat campaigns.
To the good, we saw a year when the American people rose up against the political hacks who tried to cram illegal immigration down our throats and with one resounding voice said, “NO”! Along with acts of green-ness, it’s another issue that the Left, in particular, will continue to try legislating through the back door. In 2007 we saw the Battle of Iraq take a huge turn toward success, the Global War on Terror come into clearer focus and, so far, we have remained safe as a people and a country.
There are those who would not consider the housing downturn to be a positive occurrence…and for those who bought at the peak it is not. But there’s another entire segment of people who have not been able to purchase a home in the past several years who will soon be able to afford it. For them, the so-called housing “crisis” will be a blessing. Let me hasten to point out that, if the government bail-out artists will keep their money to themselves, the free market will handle the correction just fine and things will eventually stabilize as they always have. Interference with the process merely prolongs the natural correction that must occur.
One of the happier occurrences I anticipate in 2008 is the end to the constant stream of negative campaign ads that pollute our airwaves and leave behind their own kind of footprint. But wait a minute. Yikes! If Election Day is November 4th, that means the campaign season for 2012 opens November 5th! With or without Al Gore’s convenient lie, I guess we’ll just have to warm up to it.
