Bamboo shoots driven behind fingernails, boiling egg-drop colonics, forced shoeless marches through freezing snow or jungle heat, violent beheadings, listening to some Liberal drone on about how “we’re better than that”…THAT’S torture. Sticking underwear on some barbarian’s head, providing him better living conditions than he had back at the cave [including cable] or abruptly introducing him to one of the many uses for plastic wrap is not torture. See the difference? As for dignity, these sand-grown thugs gave that up, along with any chance for self-respect, the day they departed the Human Race and signed on to murder innocent people.
Close Gitmo? We need about three more! One of our bleeding-heart, hack politicians is even concerned about holding some
of these non-uniformed enemy combatants too long. Excuse me, but every war known to man has either finally killed their captives or, at the least, held them until the war was over. They didn’t return them to active duty for a second crack at killing our brave sons and daughters. Notice I didn’t refer to terrorist types as “prisoners of war”. They’re not. They’re, also, not covered by any treaties or other scraps of paper signed in Geneva or anywhere else. If they want that privilege, they’ll have to buy uniforms, organize an actual army and join a country…otherwise they’re entitled to no more than we choose to give them.
Unfortunately, we have too many terrorist sympathizers on the left and a few shell-shocked politicians like John McCain on the Right who want to give too much. McCain has never sufficiently recovered from his own P.O.W. experience to be able to determine much about reality in this area. He simply relates too well and empathizes too much. Don’t let anyone, Right, Left or indifferent tell you that aggressive questioning doesn’t work. It does. It’s documented and has yielded enough credible information to foil several terrorist plots against The United States; no one is going to condemn us for inflicting a “boo-boo” on some sand jockey if it saves lives.
As for what the world will think of us if we were to begin employing torture techniques, what do they think of Japan? Of Korea? Germany? Because they’ve all done far worse than even the atrocities I listed at the beginning of this post. Guess what? We didn’t start this thing but we’re going to finish it like Americans not become victims of political third-world pressure, yet again!
Now, you’ve got the Democrats acting surprised about the technique of waterboarding, as if this is the first they’ve heard of it. Besides trying to make more political hay with it, the problem is that these self-righteous hypocrites keep talking about rights and humanity [with reference to people who offer neither] when they really need to start thinking “information”. If it’s going to help keep us safe, I say, “Surf’s up!”
