Imagine a country where you’re told by the government what you are allowed to say, how you may say it and what you are permitted to hear. It’s a place where the very mention of God is a crime, where lawbreakers are rewarded and law-abiding citizens persecuted. There are regulations as to how your children are raised, who gets medical treatment, who may live, or who will die and when. Imagine an existence where empowered bureaucrats dictate your means of transportation, the lifestyle you live and even the kind of light bulbs used in your home. Private citizens are not permitted weapons for their own defense and the political elite make the rules, regardless of public opinion. In the dark of night they will take your money if you work too hard, become too successful or earn too much…and give it to someone who may not work at all. One leading policy maker has stated: “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.”
Was this the Soviet Union at the peak of its prowess or Germany under Hitler? The description is not unlike the world portrayed in the movie Soylent Green. If you were a spirited Colonial in 1776, you might have been whispering about England. However, if you’re a passionate Conservative in 2007, you’ve already realized that I’m describing the new Democrat America. It’s the scenario offered by Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama, John Edwards, Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and all of the European Socialist Democrats. In fact, the quotation above relating to redistribution of wealth [originally penned by Karl Marx, author of modern Communism] was recently resurrected in a speech by none other than Ms. Hillary Rodham, B.J. Clinton’s insignificant other. Unfortunately, a few spineless Republicans have joined with the far left in the mistaken belief this posture will help their political futures.
For years, many of these same Stalinists have actively assaulted any reference to God, the intent of our founding fathers and our second amendment right to bear arms. They crush competition, cry for surrender at war, legislate government controlled programs whenever possible and work behind closed doors to defy the will of the very people who entrusted them with high office. Now they have launched an attempt to undermine the first amendment…our guarantee of free speech. The first blow struck against that cherished constitutional right was McCain-Feingold forbidding the placement of political ads within 30 days of an election, the most critical time for public awareness. Today it’s a shameless attack upon alternative media, most particularly targeting talk radio.
Typically, the Democrat approach is, if you can’t compete, smear them, legislate them away or destroy them. For this task, they have created various covertly-funded radical organizations. Mark Levin, nationally syndicated talk host and political commentator states the case eloquently:
“The Center for American Progress and Free Press (yeh, right) is a sleazy operation. It was set-up by Bill Clinton’s impeachment chief of staff, John Podesta, and is run by him today. It is no coincidence that Podesta would issue this report now, as its purpose is to help Hillary Clinton by unleashing yet another assault on talk radio. Groups like this claim to speak for the public and wrap themselves in fairness and equality. But their purpose is to intimidate radio executives. The fact is that the Clintons and the Democrat Party created Air America. It is a failure. The public has tuned it out and it doesn’t get ratings. And before Air America, the public rejected such short-lived liberal hosts as Mario Cuomo and Jesse Jackson. Talk radio is the most democratic broadcast forum in existence. Competition is fierce between hosts, between companies, and even with hosts within the same companies. Talk radio must also compete with all the other offerings in radio — including all news, sports, urban, rock-and-roll, hip-hop, business, Spanish, etc. There has never been more diversity in programming. Talk radio must also compete with IPods, Internet broadcasting, and other technologies that offer entertainment and content.”
Would someone please explain to me why passes are automatically given to left-leaning Lib media like NPR, CNN, CNBC, all the major news networks and most of the nation’s print media? They are nothing but anti-Republican, anti-war, anti- Bush shills for the new Democrat Party. How are they fair and balanced? How do they serve the best interests of the American People? When was the last time they extolled our country’s virtues instead of making her the ‘fall guy’ for their failures? If our free speech is taken away, I shudder to think of what’s next.
We the people is more than the opening line of our Constitution. We the people is an obligation. Our voices must ring out, loudly and clearly, whenever the way of life we enjoy is threatened. If we permit our God-given rights to be eroded in this manner there will be no more liberty. There will be no more freedom. There will be no more America.
