Somewhere in the Iraqi desert, a heavily cloaked, hooded figure glides silently across the sand, dropping occasionally to one knee to fire short a burst from his automatic weapon. He says he is a jihadist, training to attack the Great Satan. He will kill as many American infidels as he can, in the name of God, and is growing anxious to meet his creator.
In fact, he is a poor and misguided dupe who has been brainwashed with hate since childhood. Raised only for martyrdom, he fails to realize the reward for destroying that which God has created is an eternity of fire and damnation, not pillowy clouds and the softness of willing virgins.
Equally as loud as his cry for jihad is the silence of millions of other Muslims throughout the world, many in this country who profess to be peace-loving Americans. Are they? Why then are they not stepping up to condemn the actions of these rag-tag radicals who are hijacking their religion and endangering our country? Add to that deafening quiet the refusal of the Democrat Left to face reality, plus an open boarder policy currently being courted by both sides of the aisle in Washington, and you have an explosive formula for disaster authored from inside as well as outside our country.
While the terrorists passionately plot our demise, as they have for hundreds of years, Democrats like ‘The Breck Girl’ consider the war on terror to be a fabrication of the Bush administration. Edwards has repeatedly labeled it “a bumper sticker slogan”. According to statements made at Sunday’s Democrat Debate, the rest of the candidates seem to feel we can actually dissuade these murderers from their ancient mission of blood-letting with some cheerful dialog; some even think we wouldn’t have a problem in the first place if we had stayed out of Iraq. Is my chronometer cockeyed or were we attacked on 9/11 before we went to Iraq? Were the plot to blow up ten America-bound airliners, the near massacre of hundreds of soldiers at Fort Dix and this weekend’s plan to blow up major fuel supply arteries into Kennedy Airport all fabrications, too? If that fuel had been ignited, the damage and loss of life would have paled 9/11 in comparison! Yet the New York Times carried the story on page 30.
The Left wants the world to like America again. Again implies that they once did. The world never liked us. The only time the rest of our big, blue marble smiles at us is when they need help. After we pull their sorry carcasses out of the fire, sour relations resume per usual. I’d rather be safe. I’d rather be free. Given the present world situation, if there’s a choice between being liked and being feared, being feared is at the top of my list. Let’s begin by helping those sand people, who are growing anxious to meet their maker, realize their dream.
While our window of opportunity is closing, we can still take appropriate action…and that does not include surrender. The brightest beacons on the hill include our slate of savvy Republican Candidates, most of whom understand what we’re facing, and the fact that we live in a country where we can turn out the Democrat hordes who don’t. To follow the appeasers’ non-plan and leave Iraq too soon, or fail to forcefully address Iran and other Middle Eastern threats, will mean many more jihadists skulking across the sand on a training scholarship to the U.S.
We still have time to close our boarders, reinforce our terrorist surveillance programs, act more aggressively on the world stage, and make certain that swarthy fellow in the bed sheet only plays with his gun in the desert, not on our front porch.
