Exactly who does Nancy Pelosi think she is, anyway? She’s not the President or the Commander In Chief. We have only one of those and the job is already taken. ONE! Not four hundred thirty-five bloated suits that recently passed a politically charged time bomb or the reconstructed yenta who bought their votes with our tax money. How dare she tell my President to, “Take a deep breath and calm down!” “Calm down,” she says, “there’s a new congress in town.” How dare the smugness, the arrogance, the unmitigated gall! She and that rabble she leads are selling out this country so fast, the Taliban may not be ready soon enough for the Libs to hand it over! The way they’ve begun, that new congress she’s so proud of might not be in town very long. People have their differences, it’s one of the beauties of democracy, but we all share one thing in common. As I’ve observed before, Americans don’t like to lose and defeat is the Democrats’ middle name. They bought it. They own it. They’re spreading it.
My greater disappointment is with our sellout Senate. I thought, at least here, the odds were better that enough common sense would prevail to stop this farce before it got out of hand but I gave them too much credit. By the narrowest of margins, they passed their version of the House Pork Package, defeatist demands and all. My congratulations to Chuck Hagel, Gordon Smith and Benedict Arnold for their patriotism. They voted against America along with the Democrats. Ben, you already know. In case you’re not familiar with the other two, Hagel claims to be a Republican and disgraces the people of Nebraska. I’m not familiar with this RINO Smith but he’s from Oregon, which ought to be located about 300 miles further west. Our alleged representatives have become too self-serving, too comfortable, making careers out of part time jobs and part time jobs out of full time responsibility. If ever there were a case for term limits, it’s being made in Washington right now.
An Associated Press article offers some strong White House reaction to the passage as well as a classic photo of The Three Stooges: Dirty Harry Reid, Chuckles Schumer and Dickie Durbin doing one of their routines. Along with ‘House Madam’ Pelosi, they seem to feel The President has been “threatening them with a veto” and that “the ball is now in his court”. First of all, they need to learn the difference between a threat and simply telling someone what is going to happen. A threat is less certain and even implies there might be a way to avoid the consequence. The Democrat deadline is a clear difference between the opportunity for victory and the specter of certain defeat, not only in Iraq, but possibly in the war on terror. Mr. Bush must veto this package or join the cut, run, surrender crowd. Anything short of a veto would be like asking a woman to get just a little pregnant. This was set up by the Left as a ‘no win’ scenario from the beginning, as cunningly as the terrorists set up 9/11. A few posts ago, I said the stage is being set to claim that it’s The President’s fault if the troops don’t get this necessary funding. Dirty Harry’s “ball is in his court” statement put a finger on the trigger for that claim. Here’s an A.P. report of that trigger being squeezed, later in the day. These bozos are completely predictable and this is only the beginning of their Liberal larceny:
(Capitol Hill-AP) March 29, 2007 - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says if President Bush doesn’t sign the war-funding bill that was passed with a withdrawal timetable attached Thursday, “It’s his responsibility.”
Mostly along party lines, the Senate voted 51-47 to approve more than $120 billion for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It orders Bush to start withdrawing troops within 120 days of passage.
Bush says he’ll veto the measure. Reid says, “That, in itself, would undermine the troops.”
I guess he should know. Harry and his merry band of terrorist allies have been perfecting their undermining routine for years. The plain fact is, if these thugs put half as much energy into supporting our valiant forces in combat as they use trying to scuttle the ship of state, they could take care of their pork in a separate barrel and actually accomplish something. Unfortunately, that’s not their style. That would be honest. By the way, would someone please explain to me what spinach, peanuts, shrimp, milk subsidies, congressional slush funds, energy assistance, children’s health insurance, a contribution to the State Of Vermont, fish breeding and tax increases [among other 'essential' goodies] have to do with national defense?
I’ve, also, noticed the lynch-mob media is either completely ignoring the 21 billion dollars of Pelosi pork in the bill or trying to make it look like President Bush is the one who put it there. If there’s a bright spot anywhere, it’s that this entire ’slow-bleed’ Democrat tactic has a terrific chance of backfiring. People just may begin to understand these defeat-mongering morons are, in fact, the reason our brave men and women are not bleeding so slowly. In the past I’ve called them anti-American but I think it’s worse than that. They just don’t care.
With tensions escalating in the Middle East over the kidnapping of British sailors and one of the largest American naval exercises in recent memory taking place just 50 miles off the Iranian coast, the Democrat majority continues to pay more attention to their own needs for power than our Nation’s needs for security. When I hear Dirty Harry ask [referring to The President], “Why doesn’t he pay attention to the real issues facing the American people?” My answer has to be, “That’s exactly what he’s doing, get out of the way.”
The election results of last fall are being grossly misrepresented to support defeat. I don’t believe the people of this country are tired of war, I believe they’re tired of not winning it!
