Is Barak Hussein Obama all sizzle and no steak? During the past few days, that question has been raised by a number of people on both sides of the aisle. Many even seem surprised by his making a lot of rookie mistakes. Pardon my double-take, but is anyone else awake around here? He IS a rookie! Of course he’s going to make rookie mistakes and plenty of them! He has yet to even approach steak status. No my friends, what we have here is an ‘Obama Burger’.
Now I like a fast food hamburger-type sandwich as much as the next guy but I real-l-l-ly enjoy a genuine, honest-to-goodness hamburger! You know, the kind where you sink your teeth in and juice dribbles down your chin? The kind of experience that makes your taste buds stand at attention and shout for more. As for Barak Hussein, I’m afraid the ‘Obama Burger’ is available at any chain-operated burger joint in the country and all the goodies you pile on at the fixin’s bar won’t turn it into the real thing. It can look like a real hamburger, even smell a bit like one but the juice and the substance just aren’t there.
If ever a person existed with whom I thought my agreement [on anything] would be impossible, it’s the Rev. Al Sharpton. However, his assessment of Barak Obama is accurate and to the point. To paraphrase part of an interview I heard the other day he said, “Obama shouldn’t be running for President because he hasn’t paid any dues. His time hasn’t come yet. He isn’t even from ‘the hood’.” This last criterion is very ‘Sharpton’ and I would hope, when the time is at hand for a Black president, that individual will have risen well above a ‘hood’ mentality and would want to be everyone’s president
Aside from his extreme, far Left views, Obama has never governed anything or proposed meaningful legislation. He is a first term junior senator and barely qualified to hold that position. Frighteningly, with America teetering on the edge of a global precipice, the only other presidential hopeful with as little experience and no credentials is John Edwards. Right now ‘Barry’, as Barak has called himself to soften the Islamic sound of his name, could just be the appeasing nudge the terrorists are rooting for to push this country over the edge. Does he have ’sizzle’? Yes, indeed. They love him in Hollywood, he can sling mud with both hands like any other Democrat, and as I have said before, he’s very good at rolling up his sleeves and looking contemporary. But we need more than that. At this point in time we need conviction, courage and experience in a leader. President Bush came along at exactly the right moment in history. America must have another ‘gunslinger’ who can continue to keep the enemy off-balance, not some ketchupy cover-up from the fixin’s bar.
More than his political philosophy, which is 180 degrees opposite from my own, more than his alleged Muslim background, my concern about his candidacy at this historical juncture is that he, simply, doesn’t know what he’s doing. An ‘Obama Burger’ in our diet would be hazardous to the nation’s health. We can’t afford rookie mistakes and our leaders must be substantial, like that real hamburger. We need someone who will provide the reason to stand up and shout for more. Better yet, how about we get a steak, sizzle and all!
